Why play rec soccer?
These programs emphasize an environment that is fun for all ages and skill levels. It will introduce children to team play, allows them to make new friends and most importantly have fun while doing so. Soccer also helps participants mentally and physically. The sport is physically demanding and helps to build strength, stamina and coordination. Soccer is a sport you can play at an early age and continue to play even as an adult.
Who plays rec soccer?
Blaine Soccer Club offers a large recreational “in-house” youth soccer program for youth 3 - 15 years of age.
When does rec soccer happen?
BSC has 3 rec leagues per year.
Fall Season runs from Late August to Mid October, with games beginning after Labor Day.
Indoor season runs beginning of March through the end of April.
Summer season goes from May through mid July, with games beginning after Memorial Day.
How often do rec teams practice?
Teams will practice 1 per week in the fall and summer season. In the indoor season, there are 2 practices total for the season.
How often are games?
Teams in the fall play 7 total games, generally 1 per weekend. Teams in the summer play 1 game per week on average. Indoor season is 1 game per week.
Do I get a uniform?
Each player receives a team jersey at the beginning each season. Summer players also get socks and shorts, cost is included in registration fees!
Who coaches the team?
BSC relies on volunteer coaches to manage our teams, conduct practices and communicate with the team.

When registering your player for rec soccer be sure to indicate on the registration page your interest in being a team coach. COACHES are one of the most important elements of our program.
How much does rec soccer cost?
Spring Indoor = $100 - $110
Summer Season = $120 - $130
Fall Season = $130 - $130

How many players are on the roster?
Teams will have on average 10 – 14 players per roster depending on age group.
Can my child play up an age group?
Yes, but you need to contact the club to register up.
How and when do I register?
Registration is online at blainesoccer.org and is posted in July for Fall Soccer, December for Spring Soccer and March for Summer Soccer.
How are teams formed?
Teams are formed to be of equal strength. We place players based on buddy requests, school they attend and years of soccer experience. We attempt in all circumstances to make equal teams for the benefit of all players.
Can my child play with a friend?
We attempt to honor all “buddy requests” but limit 4 buddy request trees per team. Late registrations with buddy requests cannot be guaranteed. No coach requests will be considered.
Equipment Needed?
Soccer shoes recommended not required, shin guards, athletic wear, soccer ball. Indoor spaces sometimes require tennis shoes only.
What size ball does my child need?
U5 – U8 = Size 3
U10 – U12 = Size 4
U15 = Size 5
What is the U8 Rec Academy?
More practices, more games, festivals versus other clubs, less “in-house” games, group training vs team training, for the more serious player who has already played a number of rec seasons.
